Sources AJ Storr transfers to Kansas after year at Wisconsin

Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr, one of the top available players in the portal, has committed to Kansas, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.

Storr chose the Jayhawks over a list of suitors that also included Illinois and Arkansas.

A 6-foot-7 wing, Storr entered the portal in late March and immediately became one of the most sought-after perimeter options. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection last season after averaging 16.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Storr played arguably the best basketball of his career in the Big Ten tournament while leading Wisconsin to the title game. He had 30 points in the quarterfinals against Northwestern, 20 in an overtime upset of Purdue in the semifinals and 24 in the championship game loss to Illinois. Earlier in the season, he had back-to-back 28-point efforts against Michigan State and Nebraska.

After a season in which Kansas lacked consistent shooters and playmakers on the offensive end, coach Bill Self has completely revamped the Jayhawks' perimeter group. Storr is the third transfer addition for Kansas, joining South Dakota State's Zeke Mayo and Florida's Riley Kugel. Mayo was the Summit League Player of the Year after averaging 18.8 points per game, while Kugel has NBA-level potential.

The Jayhawks remain in the mix for Alabama transfer Rylan Griffen and could still return All-American Hunter Dickinson, who has one year of college eligibility remaining.

Storr began his career with one season at St. John's, where he averaged 8.8 points per game. He was ranked No. 3 in ESPN's transfer rankings. The Athletic first reported on Storr's commitment to Kansas.

Wisconsin received more bad news Thursday afternoon when three-year starter Chucky Hepburn entered the transfer portal. Hepburn was a critical player under coach Greg Gard, averaging 9.2 points and 3.9 assists per game last season. He was Wisconsin's third key player to enter the portal, joining Storr and Connor Essegian.
