Impact newcomers for college football s top 25 teams QBs transfers freshmen who will play early

The WNBA announced the release of Nike Rebel Edition uniforms for six teams Thursday. Similar to the NBA's City Edition uniform concept, the Rebel Editions are designed to tell stories related to the franchise's history and impact on women's basketball.

The initiative started ahead of the 2021 season, when Nike partnered with the league as a way to bring stories from franchise "cities and communities to life through the muse of female archetypes in storytelling and film," according to a company news release.

Notable rookies who just entered the WNBA after Monday's draft -- including Cameron Brink, Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese -- will wear the association's new Rebel edition uniforms in their rookie seasons.

The teams wearing the Rebel Edition uniforms will be the Chicago Sky, Las Vegas Aces, Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, Seattle Storm and Phoenix Mercury.

Here is a look at the new 2024 WNBA Rebel Edition uniforms:

Chicago Sky

The Sky's Rebel Edition uniform is light blue and features hints of white and silver that paint a picture of a cloud, representing the "infinite possibilities beyond."

On the side of the uniform lie four stars that represent Chicago's flag and how the Sky franchise "shines within the city."

Connecticut Sun

Across the front of the jersey lies the word "KEESUSK," which means "Sun" in the Mohegan language. Though the team plays at Mohegan Sun Arena, the jersey is a tribute to the tribe rather than the stadium. The graphic around the neck symbolizes a Wampum collar, which is used to make necklaces. It is also visible on the waistband.

The colors red, yellow, black and white placed along the side of the uniform represents the regalia that members of the tribe wore.

Las Vegas Aces

The defending champion Aces' uniform features championship red, which represents their team's passion, strength, energy and action, tying into the winning culture built in Las Vegas.

Los Angeles Sparks

The uniform pays homage to origins of the Sparks, one of the three inaugural WNBA franchises to still exist. The jersey also gives flowers to The Forum -- the team's original arena -- and a pattern on the shorts serves as a reminder of the three championships won by Los Angeles.

Phoenix Mercury

Inspired by the Phoenix Suns' "The Valley" uniform, the Mercury's jersey paints a picture of sunrise and sunset in the Valley, along with a highlighted "X" that represents Phoenix's fan base -- the "X factor."

Seattle Storm

The Storm's Rebel Edition uniform symbolizes the rainy climate of Seattle with lightning bolts that drive down the side. The electrified font across the front of the jersey also represents the stormy weather in the Pacific Northwest.
